Too far away to indulge in fly fishing?

I love fly fishing. 

I almost never do anything fly fishing related.

I wish that I had focused on it much more than I have in the last decade. There is nothing I can do about that of course. What I can do is embrace it more in the future. I was lucky enough to be taught to fly fish by my older brother, and each time I see him I am reminded how much I miss fly fishing. One day I will settle down in a place that I can easily get to some trout fishing from. Until then I will just get my fishing fix in through fly tying and doing other creative things. I might even update this blog with some fishing porn who knows. The major point is that I can get some enjoyment out of this hobby without having to travel large distances and spend a lot of money.

This version of the Hare's Ear nymph only really varies from the original in the addition of partridge for the legs.

Rib- fine copper wire

Body- peacock herl x3

Hackle- grizzly hen

First flies of the year

For the first time since my fly tying sabbatical started I am up and running. Even if it is while I am using a limited set of supplies on a makeshift table. 

Only 7 years

It has only taken me seven years to do this but I have finally gotten my fly fishing & tying gear out of my brothers closet so I will be posting my misadventures here for the world to see.
